Lyrics
Shenandoah

Shenandoah I long to hear you

Ah a way. . . you rolling river

O Shenandoah I long to hear you

Away . . . I'm bound to go

'Cross the wide Missouri

Shenandoah I took a notion

Ah a way. . . you rolling river

To sail across the stormy ocean

Away . . . I'm bound to go

'Cross the wide Missouri

'Tis seven long years since last I see thee

Ah a way. . . you rolling river

'Tis seven long years since last I see thee

Away . . . I'm bound to go

'Cross the wide Missouri

Shenandoah I long to hear you

Ah a way. . . you rolling river

O Shenandoah I long to hear you

Away . . . I'm bound to go

'Cross the wide Missouri

When we were young

One beautiful day

When we were young

When we had spring on our side

And love couldn't hide from the Sun

On went the tears

And as we learnt how to cry

Our beautiful day passed us by

We used to live . . . only for love

Our little World below and Heaven above

Yes we were living . . . only for loving

Your hear and mine were one

When we were young

REmember the nights

So still and warm

And all the stars in the sky

Made love to your eyes 'til the dawn

When did we start

To drift apart

One day I'll find you and then

Our love will be young once again

We used to live . . . only for love

Our little World below and Heaven above

Yes we were living . . . only for loving

Your hear and mine were one

When we were young

(Yes we were living . . . only for loving

Your heart and mine were one . . . when we were young)

The Banks of My Own Lovely Lee

How oft do my thoughts in their fan-cy take flight to the home of my childhood a-way

To the days when each pa-tri-ots vision seem'd bright Ere I dream'd that those joys should decay

When my heart was as light as the wild winds that blow down the Mar-dyke through each elm tree,

Where I sport'ed and played 'neath each green leaf-y shade on the banks of my own lovely Lee,

Where I sport'ed and played 'neath each green leaf-y shade on the banks of my own lovely Lee,

And then in the springtime o laughter and song,

Will I ever forget the sweet hours

With the friends of my youth rambled along

Amongst the green mossy banks and wild flowers.

Then too, when the evening sun sinking to rest,

Sheds its golden light over the sea

The maid with her lover the wild daisies pressed

On the banks of my lovely Lee,

The maid with her lower the wild daisies pressed

On the banks of my own lovely Lee.

How Great Thou Art

O lord, my God, when I in awesome wonder,

Consider all the works thy hand has made,

I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder,

Thy pow'r throughout the universe displayed.

Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to thee;

How great thou art, how great thou art.

Then sings my soul, my Saviour God to thee;

How great thou art, how great thou art.

And when I think: that God his Son not sparing

Sent Him to die - I scarce can take it in;

That on the cross my burden gladly bearing,

He bled and died, to take away my sin.

When Christ shall come with shouts of acclamation

And take me home - what joy shall fill my heart!

Then shall I bow in humble adoration,

And there proclaim: My God, how great thou art.

The Twelfth of Never

You ask how much I need you, must I explain?

I need you, oh my darling, like roses need rain.

You ask how long I'll love you; I'll tell you true:

Until the twelfth of never, I'll be still loving you.

Hold me close, never let me go.

Hold me close, melt my heart like April snow

I'll love you till the bluebells forget to bloom;

I'll love you till the clover has lost its perfume.

I'll love you will the poets run out of rhyme,

Until the twelfth of never and that's a long, long time

Hold me close, never let me go.

Hold me close, melt my heart like April snow.

I'll love you till the bluebells forget to blomm;

I'll love you till the clover has lost its perfume.

I'll love you till the poets run out of rhyme,

Until the twelfth of never and thats a long, long time

Until the twelfth of never and thats a long, long time.

Lady of Knock

There were people of all ages

gathered 'round the gable wall

poor and humble men and women,

little children that you called

We are gathered here before you

and our hearts are jsut the same

filled with joy at such a vision

as we praise your name

Golden Rose, Queen of Ireland

all my cares and troubles cease

as I kneel with love before you

Lady of Knock, my Queen of Peace

Though your message was unspoken

still the truth in silence lies

as we gaze upon your vision,

and the truth I try to find

Here I stand with John the teacher,

and with Joseph at your side

and I see the Lamb of God

on the Altar glorified

Golden Rose, Queen of Ireland

all my cares and troubles cease

as I kneel with love before you

Lady of Knock, my Queen of Peace

And the Lamb will conquer

and the woman clothed in the sun

will shine Her light on everyone

And the Lamb will conquer

and the woman clothed in the sun

will shine Her light on everyone

Golden Rose, Queen of Ireland

all my cares and troubles cease

as I kneel with love before you

Lady of Knock, my Queen of Peace

Lili Marlene

Underneath the lantern by the barrack gate,

Darling I remember the way you used to wait;

'Twas you lov'd me, you'd always be,

My illi of the lamplight,

My own Lilli Marlene.

Time would come for roll call time for us to part

Darling I'd caress you and press you to my heart.

And there 'neath that far off lantern light

I'd hold you tight we'd kiss goodnight,

My illi of the lamplight,

My own Lilli Marlene.

Orders came for sailing somewhere over there,

All confined to barracks was ore than I could bear;

I knew you were waiting in the street,

I heard your feet but could not meet,

My illi of the lamplight,

My own Lilli Marlene.

Resting in a billet just behind the line

Even tho' we're parted your lips are close to mine,

You wait where that lantern softly gleams

Your sweet face seems to haunt my dreams,

My illi of the lamplight,

My own Lilli Marlene.

It is no secret

The chimes of time ring out the news

Another day is through

Someone slipped and fell

Was that someone you?

You may have longed for added strength

Your courage to renew

Do not be disheartened

For I have news for you

It is no secret what God can do

What He's done for others, He'll do for you

With arms wide open, He'll pardon you

It is no secret what God can do

There is no night for in His light

You never walk alone

Always feel at home

Wherever you may go

There is no power can conquer you

While God is on your side

Take Him and His promise

Don't run away and hide

It is no secret what God can do

What He's done for others, He'll do for you

With arms wide open, He'll pardon you

It is no secret what God can do

Danny Boy

Oh Danny Boy, the pipes the pipes are calling,

from glen to glen and down the mountain side

The Summer's gone and all the roses dying,

'tis you, 'tis you, 'tis you must go and I must bide.

But come ye back when Summer's in the meadow,

or when the valley's hushed and white with snow.

'Tis I'll be there in sunshine or in shadow

Oh Danny Boy, Oh Danny Boy I love you so.

And when ye come and all the flowers are dying

If I am dead, as dead I well may be

You'll come and find the place where I am lying

And kneel and say an Ave there for me.

Oh Danny Boy, the pipes the pipes are calling,

from glen to glen and down the mountain side

The Summer's gone and all the roses dying,

'tis you, 'tis you, 'tis you must go and I must bide.

And I shall hear tho' soft you tread above me

And all my grave will warmer sweeter be

If you will bend and tell me that you love me

Then I shall sleep in peace until you come to see me.

The Rose of Tralee

The pale moon was ris-ing a - bove the green mountain the sun was declining beneath the blue sea.

When I strayed with my love o'er the pure crystal fountain that stands in the beautiful vale of Tralee.

She was lovely and fair as the rose in the summer. Yet t'was not her beauty along that won me.

Oh no t'was the truth in her eyes ever dawning that made me love Mary the Rose of Tralee.

The cool shades of evening their mantles were spreading

And Mary, all smiling sat listening to me

The moon thro' the valley her pale rays was shedding

When I wont the heart of the Rose of Tralee.

The lovely and fair as the rose of the summer

Yet 'twas not her beauty alone that won me

Oh! no, 'twas the truth in her eye ever dawning

That made me love Mary, the Rose of Tralee.

Amazing Grace

Amazing grace! How sweet the sound,

that saved a wretch like me.

I once was lost, but now I'm found,

was blind, but now I see

Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,

and grace my fears relieved.

How precious did that grace appear,

the hour I first believed

Though many dangers, toils and snares

I have already come

Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far,

and grace will lead me home

When we're been there ten thousand years

bright shining as the sun

We've no less days to sing God's praise

than when we first began

Isle of Innisfree

I've met some folks who say that I'm a dreamer

And I've no doubt theres truth in what they say

But sure a body's bound to be a dreamer

When all those things he loves are far away

And special things are dreams unto an exile

They take him oer the land across the sea

Especially when it happens the he's in exile

From that there lovely Isle of Innisfree

And when the moonlight beams across the rooftops

Of this great city wondrous though it be

I scarcely feel its wonder or its laughter

I'm once again back home in Innisfree

I wander oer greenhills to dreamy valleys

And find peace no other land could know

I hear the birds make music fit for Angels

And hear rivers laughing as they flow

And then unto a humble shack I wander

My dear old home I tenderly behold

The folks I love around the turf fire gather

On bended knees the Rosarie is told

But drams dont last

Thought dreams are not forgotten

And soon I'm back to stern reality

Now though they pave the foothways here with gold dust

I still would choose my Isle of Innishfree

(Repeat last two lines)

Now though they pave the foothways here with gold dust

I still would choose my Isle of Innishfree
